THE HISTORY OF THE VIC CLUB

The Victorian Club was founded on 10 August 1880, with a prestigious 140 years of history in Victoria. It is a second home to its core members who are not only interested in a sundry of sporting events, but are keen on wining, dining and socialising with like minded people. The Victorian Club is proud of its heritage in being the first club of its kind to admit women members, and prides itself on being a club that is accessible and open to members of all diversities. Over its 140 years of history, the club has been home to many famous, reputable and sporting media personalities – some of Victoria’s best known and longest standing horse races have even been named after renowned members of the Victorian Club. The Victorian Club has also always been associated with Entertainment and Drama, with perhaps its most prominent drama being the “Great Bookie Robbery” that occurred on 21 April 1976 when the Club was located on 141 Queen Street.

This event has been the subject of films and television shows and even today remains one of Victoria’s most famous unsolved crimes. As an invite only club, you can be ensured that you will mingle with only the best comrades, as well as a myriad of celebrated sporting and business icons at the many lunching events that are hosted at the club.
