The Victorian Club committee all hope that you and your family are safe and well.
With some progress being made on easing restrictions in Melbourne particularly, hopefully we will all have healthier and happier times in 2021!
Cox Plate Lunch and Call of the Card.
Despite our best intentions and endeavours, it has not been possible to ensure that these signature functions (nor our monthly lunches) can be held, given the Government’s rulings. The health and safety of our members and the wider public is paramount. The cancellations are extremely disappointing but planning for the 2021 editions is underway and will hopefully allow us to put on memorable events that we can all look forward to.
Subscriptions.
The Call of the Card especially is one of our prime sources of revenue, and whilst the club is financially sound, you are all encouraged to renew your 2020/2021 memberships if you haven’t already done so. These run from 1 July 2020 and we have maintained the subs at a very reasonable $100. You can do so online at victorianclub.com.au or download or ask for a renewal form to be sent to you. Now more than ever we hope to provide a conduit for camaraderie and friendship.
A.G.M.
We have taken advantage of the allowed extension of time in the hope of being able to repeat the very successful AGM/Cocktail Party format, but it appears that we will have to conduct a ‘virtual’ meeting, for which planning is underway. All documentation is lodged, so look out for a notice of meeting to be sent shortly.
Footy Tipping
has been run and won. Congratulations Max Williams, Matt Cosgriff and John Bowman. Hopefully, next season will be less disrupted – you are all encouraged to participate. The more we have paying the small $50 entry fee, the bigger the prizes! Details on the website.
Random Scotchman’s Hill Draw.
As a minor consolation and early Christmas present, we are pleased to be able to offer several bottles from our sponsor, Scotchmans Hill Wines, to a number of participant members. All paid-up (including footy tipping!) members have the chance to enter by replying to this email or to admin@victorianclub.com.au with the heading “Scotchmans Hill Draw”.

I also pay tribute on the passing of Bernie, a wonderful gentleman, valued long-standing member and former committeeman. Our condolences and thoughts go out to Kaye and the family.
